There are many reasons why we started this Hobby farm. It goes well beyond the love of animals.

We have a company that provides housing and cares for people with disabilities. Individuals who need help with daily living which includes social. Our clients can't get jobs due to thier limitations and yet teaching them work skills is a great way for to help them grow as individuals. The Hobby farm is a means in which to teach them new skills that will encourage thier growth and give them new ways in which to feel a sense of being part of a community. One of the reasons for building this hobby farm is many of my clients can’t or are not interested in having a job. But jobs teach us to have discipline and teach us to be thoughtful of others needs. Jobs give us rewards of money so we can buy things we want. This hobby farm is therapeutic and filled with laughter that comes free. It offers my clients means to buy a radio for thier room or a chocolate shake on one of our outings. Security and a sense of belonging is a gift that helps us to thrive and grow.

I started a new YouTube where we are going to download life here at Pleasant View Hobby Farm and our home with all of our animals. With the permission of thier family our clients, thier experiences will be captured here with pictures and videos. I love hearing from my staff how all our clients go and watch our videos we create. It is like our family album that they can access anytime they want. It gives them a sense of belonging and helps them to be proud. I so appreciate the families who have allowed us to create these, not just for thier family, but for them as well. They too can share our lives and our love for animals.

Another reason for this Hobby Farm was for my family. My children and grand children have a larger than life love for animals. These animals are the best teachers of true happiness and love. It is my personal opinion that having animals makes us a better human being. They offer experiences and laughter daily. They also require our effort and at times hard work. My children and grand kids have come out and dedicated days to help take care of the Hobby Farm and our animals.
